TEEN WORKFORCE INITIATIVE MANAGER JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the Director of Programming, the Teen Workforce Initiative Manager will be responsible for implementing teen programs, activities, and experiences for Club teens ages 12-19 that are in grades 9-12. Programs will be innovative and relevant while building leadership and service skills, social and emotional wellness, and career, college, and workforce readiness. In addition to the priority outcomes of academic success, health and life skills, and good character and citizenship.

JOB FUNCTION:
  • Serve as a leader and expert on teen trends locally and nationally in order to lead efforts related to planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating the organization’s teen programs, services, and activities.
  • Compile state-of-the-art teen resources, information, and data to address current and future trends affecting teens.
  • Provide passion-driven programming opportunities in the areas of job readiness, career exploration, workforce readiness, leadership and service, the arts, and health and life skills using needs-based and interest-based program models.
  • Assist with the promotion and implementation of teen program initiatives that reinforce social-emotional development and 21st-century skills.
  • Seek and employ opportunities to recruit new teen members.
  • Participate in Club staff and advisory meetings to ensure teen interests and concerns are addressed in a manner consistent with, and in conformance with, the mission and policies of the Boys & Girls Club.
  • Serve as a positive adult role model at all Clubs and local and national events.
  • Serve as a liaison with BGCA's Youth Development Team to maximize resources available for service to teens.
  • Collaborate annually with other statewide Club staff to enhance teen programming and experiences.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
 
  • Support Club Directors in Tec Teen recruitment and employee paperwork.
  • Coordinate and run monthly meetings with Tec Teens.
  • Coordinate and hold a quarterly event with the Tec Teen cohort.
  • Introduction and assistance with FAFSA/Scholarship.
  • Expose Tec Teens to local colleges, universities, trade schools, and manufacturing industries.
  • Maintain and enforce Tec Teen workplace responsibilities pertaining to time management and schedule.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree in recreation, behavioral sciences, education, administration, or related fields.
Minimum of five years working with children and adolescents, with at least one year of program management experience, preferably in designing and implementing programs for teens.

SKILLS AND TRAITS
 
  • Excellent human relations, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Have intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Internet, and social media platforms.
  • Ability to collaborate with other community-based teen organizations and social service agencies.
  • Knowledge of programs and resources available to create a well-rounded teen program and the ability to establish positive peer working relationships.
  • Ability to organize teen outreach events, including high school recruitment presentations.
  • Capacity to communicate effectively the goals and objectives of the Club’s teen initiative.

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

Physical requirements include sight, hearing, and standing for more than four hours each day, other physical requirements needed to complete essential functions of the position, and other duties as assigned. Necessary mental requirements include concentration and focus on teen outreach and membership objectives.

ENVIRONMENTAL AND WORKING CONDITIONS

Normal internal office environment. Must be able to work weekends and evenings as needed to support teen events. Possess skills to maintain up-to-date information-sharing platforms reflecting the needs and interests of the Club/community teen population. ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Assist with any additional projects as assigned by Club management.
Adhere to organizational policies and procedures as described in the Employee Handbook, Ethics Policy, and elsewhere.
